Description
“TISSEEL is a two-component tissue adhesive consisting of two solutions, the sealing protein solution and the thrombin solution. TISSEEL contains fibrinogen and thrombin, which are two important blood proteins for blood clotting. When these proteins are mixed during application, they form a clot at the application site.
The clot produced by TISSEEL is very similar to the clot that occurs naturally. It degrades in the same way as an endogenous clot (from the body itself) and leaves no residue. A synthetic protein (synthetic aprotinin) is added to increase the duration of the clot and prevent its premature degradation.”
