PediGuard

Electronic pedicular probe

Description

It is an electronic pedicle locator that functions similarly to sonar technology. By measuring bone density, it determines whether the tip is in cortical bone, cancellous bone, or has breached the final cortical layer. Feedback is provided through distinct audible signals during open spine surgery.

Advantages:

  • PediGuard enhances safety during pedicle screw placement.
  • High detection rate in the event of cortical breach.
  • Clear and audible alert system.
  • Pre-insertion and real-time detection capabilities.
  • Time-efficient technique.
  • Reduces overall screw placement time.
  • Allows immediate trajectory correction.
  • Reduces the need for fluoroscopy (up to 10%).
  • Lowers radiation exposure for patients, surgeons, and operating room staff.
  • Valuable educational tool for training surgeons.
  • No prior setup or calibration required.
  • Maintains full procedural control in the surgeon’s hands.
  • Ready to use (supplied sterile).
  • No cables or computer connection required.
