Description

ULCODERMA™ is a topical enzymatic ointment containing clostridiopeptidase A —collagenase— and chloramphenicol for the debridement and treatment of post-traumatic and trophic skin lesions.

Collagenase acts on collagen within devitalised tissue, facilitating its removal and wound bed cleansing without significantly affecting healthy tissue. Chloramphenicol provides local antibacterial action during the wound-healing process.

INDICATIONS

• Venous or varicose ulcers.
• Diabetic ulcers.
• Pressure ulcers.
• Non-extensive second- and third-degree burns.
• Dehisced surgical wounds.
• Dehisced traumatic wounds.
• Friction abrasions.
• Superficial skin excoriations.
• Slow-healing wounds or wounds at risk of becoming chronic.
• Wounds requiring support for cleansing, granulation and epithelialisation.

Collagenase requires adequate moisture within the wound bed to remain active. The product should not be combined with antiseptics, heavy metals, acidic solutions, certain detergents or some topical antibiotics that may inactivate the enzyme.

Prescription only. It must be used under professional supervision and discontinued if no improvement is observed after 14 days. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to collagenase or chloramphenicol, a history of blood disorders or extensive burns.
